Homemade doner kebabs are the latest viral trend and making them couldn’t be easier
THERE’s no better way to end a night out than with a greasy doner kebab, but it’s no secret that they’re not exactly good for you.
However, savvy mums are creating their own tasty versions at home using fresh ingredients – and they swear they’re just as good as the real thing.
Taking to the Facebook group , mums have been sharing recipes for the fast food cheat.
They recommend simply combing lamb mince with seasoning and then form it into a loaf shape before wrapping in tin foil.
Either cook on low for 5-6 hours or high for 3-4, and that’s it, ready to serve along with your favourite salad, pitta and tzatziki.
Best of all, by using a slow cooker you can leave the dinner to cook itself meaning you can get on with the rest of your day.
How to make your own kebabs at home

- 1kg lamb mince
- 2 teaspoons mixed herbs
- 3 teaspoons onion salt
- 3 teaspoons garlic powder

Many have been keen to try out the recipe themselves, with one mum revealing how she achieved the signature kebab shreds of meat using a potato peeler.
She wrote: “Sooo I used a potato peeler to shred the kebab. And the salad is just standard salad. But the red cabbage and slaw type stuff is brought from Tesco’s. £1 a pot!”
Commenting on the post another said: “I followed this last night and it was wonderful. Thank you.”
“I had this tonight and it was delicious” agreed a third, with another adding, “Tasted amazing.”
In other food news, this mum was “lunchbox shamed” by other mums for feeding her kids too much.
