I DO-NUT UNDERSTAND

I walked into Greggs and asked for my favourite item only to be told it’s NEVER been on the menu, I was speechless

A FOOD fan was left stunned after walking into Greggs to order her favourite item – only to be told it doesn’t exist.

Taylor, who has nearly 90k TikTok followers, tried to pick up a fudge donut at the bakery chain before staff said it’s not on their menu.

Taylor wasn’t sure what to think

What do you think it’s called?

After much confusion and fearing she’d imagined the sugary snack, the Scot realised it had been rebranded as a caramel custard donuts.

She said: “I need to know if I’m going off my nut.

“I just went into Greggs to get a fudge doughnuts and they’re not called fudge doughnuts anymore.

“It’s called a caramel custard doughnut.

“Was it ever called a a fudge doughnut, or did I make that up?

“I still got it obviously.

“But I’m so confused.”

Those in the comments backed her up and claimed to remember when they were called fudge doughnuts too.

One person commented: “Yes it was definitely called that, I love them.”

Another wrote: “Yes!! It was definitely called a fudge donut.”

Someone said: “Yeah, you are right, it has changed names.”

While a follower added: “Had the exact same experience last week!”

From a quick look online, it was also easy to find photographic evidence of the old labels.

And it appears it was indeed called a fudge doughnut before the name change.

Meanwhile, posting on TikTok, Greggs’ worker Isabelle explained why sausage rolls might be cool when you get your hands on them.

She confessed that customers always come into the shop and ask why the sausage rolls and pasties aren’t hot.

She said: “So many times people come in and they’re like ‘can you heat up our food? Why is it not hot?’

“Basically we don’t pay a hot tax on any of the savouries,” She explained.

According to the worker this means that when you buy food like a ham and cheese baguette you actually pay extra to have it heated up, but you don’t on the bakes.

She continued: “It’s just that you’re lucky if your come in and if they’re popular that day and constantly going out that they’re hot or not.

“They’re not actually retailed to be hot, they can be any temperature and can still be sold.

“The amount of times that people come in asking for their food to be re-heated, we can’t do that.”
