FAMILY FEAST

I got dinner for my family for the whole week for £27 from Sainsbury’s – the price even beat Aldi thanks to my trick

A THRIFTY mum has shared how she bought dinner for her family of four for the whole week from Sainsbury’s for just £27.

The woman, who goes by the name Duchess of Thrift on social media, said the price even beat her previous shop in popular budget supermarket Aldi – and it’s all down to one trick that she’s mastered.

: “I just got back from Sainsbury’s and let me show you what I got for £27.

“I’ve got a week’s worth of tea for £27. We went to Aldi last week and my groceries came out so much more expensive.

“I know Sainsbury’s overall isn’t cheaper, but if you go around with a list and use the scan and save, it makes you so much more mindful of what you’re putting in.”

After lifting the lid on her scan and save trick, Duchess of Thrift took her 23,000 followers through her purchases.

First up was a big tray of chicken breasts for £9, whereas in Aldi a similar product had cost her £11.65.

The savvy shopper said she’d bought that to make a chicken and vegetable stir fry.

Also in her shopping basket was Teriyaki noodles and chorizo so she could make a paella in the slow cooker.

Chicken mince was also in her supermarket haul so that she could make Lebanese kebabs.

Duchess of Thrift continued: “I’ll be able to make tea out of this lot for a week and it was just £27.”

The social media user said her recent trip had made her rethink her shopping habits and she’d now be visiting Sainsbury’s much more often.

She said: “Overall, I’m converting to Sainsbury’s. I’ve stuck to Lidl for years thinking I can’t afford to go anywhere else.

“I eat the same thing week after week, the kids are like, ‘Oh do we have to have that again?’ because you’re sort of stuck on variety.

“I’m just convinced that for our family with a scan and save and a shopping list and going around carefully, I always spend less.”
