I cleared out M&S’ Colin the Caterpillar sweets which scanned for 17p – tall people can have the ones I left behind

A MARKS & Spencer shopper cleared the shelf of Colin the Caterpillar Easter sweets after realising they were scanning for just 17p.

Katie Louise discovered the bargain yesterday when she grabbed a few bags at the reduced price of 43p.

However, she soon realised that the till was registering each packet of sweets at 17p a pop.

Katie initially left “one or two bags on the shelf” but went back the next day to clear the lot. 

She spent an impressive £10.50 in total, including a bag for life when she cleared the shelves on her second trip this morning. 

The reduced chewies included Colin the Caterpillar ‘Egg Hunt’ sweets and Percy Pig ‘Easter Party Time’ one.

They originally cost £1.75 a pack, meaning Katie saved an impressive £1.58 per packet.

M&S also did a multi-buy deal on the sweets of two for £3 before Easter.

Katie shared her sweet bargain in the on Facebook.

When asked why she didn’t grab all of them on her first trip, Katie joked she couldn’t reach them on the top shelf.

She penned: “They were on top shelf.

“I couldn't reach the back ones - got the vast majority though.

“Tall people should be happy.”

Fans of the sweets vowed to visit their local M&S in hope of getting lucky.

One shopper said to their friend: “You know we’re going to look for these tomorrow.”

Another wrote: “These are my absolute favourite out of all the M&S sweets!”

M&S previously teased that the limited-edition sweets might come back next Easter. 

Luckily, Katie has enough to see her through until then.
