LET’S face it, we all love Christmas crackers but they can prove a bit of a disappointment.

The crackers will soon be on sale at Virgin Wines Sendagift and, as well as the 200ml bottle of booze, they contain a joke, a hat and a wine fact to amuse your dinner guests.
For those who like less sparkle with their vino, there are premium wine Christmas crackers, with 187ml bottles of the wine retailer's highly rated plonk.
If spirits are your thing, there are gin and tonic crackers, containing either a measure of Bombay Sapphire or Beefeater London Dry gin and a can of tonic.
All you need to add is ice and a slice.
