YOUR morning latte might get you out of bed, but if you're looking to lose weight, you may want to try a different kind of coffee altogether.
Green coffee beans have been found to be a natural weight loss aid, according to nutritional director, Rick Hay.
They're so effective, in fact, that in a Norweigan study, they were found to help participants lose up to three times the weight of people who drank regular instant coffee.
The study was conducted over a 12-week period on 30 overweight people.
One group consumed regular instant coffee, while the other group drank instant coffee enriched with 200mg of green coffee bean extract.
Neither group changed their diet or exercise regime.
And it turned out that the green bean coffee drinkers lost an average of 5.4kg (8lbs), compared to the 1.7kg (3lb) of regular instant drinkers, over the 12 week period.
So what is it about this particular kind of coffee bean that's so good for weight loss?
"Coffee beans are loaded with antioxidants and chlorogenic acid," Rick explained.
"This acid is believed to be the principal ingredient in green coffee beans which produces weight loss effects."
But green coffee isn't just useful for shifting unwanted pounds.
Rick says: 'As well as helping with weight loss, green coffee bean extract can aid with energy production and blood circulation as well as help your immune function, because it’s packed with antioxidant polyphenols.'
As with regular coffee, you've got to be careful not to drink too much of the stuff.
The recommended dosage, Rick says, is between 200-400mg of green coffee powder daily.
