A THRIFTY couple have revealed how they get their food shopping on a budget and never pay full price for their groceries.

Aron and Ian are just two of many who race to supermarkets just as staff are slapping on ‘yellow stickers’ - and marking down food heavily in price.

The savvy shoppers, from West Lancashire, often share their weekly food hauls online, which regularly feature reduced items that save them a fortune.

The couple, who share their everyday life on their YouTube channel , revealed how they haven’t bought a full price bread in more than a year due to making the most of yellow sticker bargains.

Aron explained that the couple share their thrifty food shops from Too Good To Go as well as hunting down the best yellow sticker finds.

He said: “We started YouTube just to document our everyday life and we found it fun.

“On a normal week we would probably spend around £100 on food but if we have done a Too Good To Go, this will reduce the bill significantly.

“When we are trying to be more careful with a budget, we become more flexible on the things we put together for meals.”

Aron shared how the couple often bag a range of goods including salad, vegetables, bread and potatoes from Morrisons - which is more than enough to feed them.

Then they enjoy making meals such as their delicious sausage roll casserole!

One time they received around 16 bags of salad after purchasing a magic bag from Morrisons so they enjoyed a lot of salad-based meals that week.

Savvy shopper Aron added: “One of our top tips for budget shopping is flexibility.

“If you can be flexible with food that you will eat, that will save you money.

“Also, realising and accepting that the dates on food are more guidance than set in stone."

Aron and Ian, who also share an insight into their lives on their page, recently shared a video of the bargains they got using the Too Good To Go app and Morrisons.

The couple were left super impressed with the bargains they picked up - and the money they saved.

Now they use that - and yellow sticker shopping - to keep their food costs low.

Aron said: “We are pretty much always on the lookout for bargains, yellow ticket items, coupons and obviously the Too Good To Go app has been a blessing.

“We love the amount of stuff you get with Morrisons Magic Bag through Too Good To Go."

The couple’s main go-to budget recipes include homemade casseroles and soups.

This is because they can use most food items - such as potatoes, onions and vegetables - in them.

Aron said: “The best things we have had from Morrisons was the 16 bags of salad, lots of strawberries as well as apples and pears which we made into crumbles.

“What we like about Too Good To Go is that it is helping to reduce food waste while we get a bargain so it’s a win-win!

“We love picking up yellow sticker bread or lots of potatoes for mash. We actually haven't brought a full price bread in over a year due to yellow sticker shopping.”

With Christmas around the corner, lots of thrifty shoppers are planning in advance and rushing to the shops to get the best bargains.

But Aron and Ian insist there’s no need for the mad rush and their big tip for planning Christmas food - is to make the most of your freezer.

They said: “We don't really prepare too much for Christmas.

“We are just very sensible about the things we buy and how much we will actually need or consume.

“The freezer is the best tip I could give anyone. It's amazing what you can freeze!”
