A MAN had a potentially life-saving operation after TikTok users spotted warning signs in one of his videos.
The tech expert, called "Seattle Tech Bro" on the social media site, explained how strangers helped diagnosed him with cancer.
A couple of fans had commented on one of his videos recommending he have his thyroid looked at.
They said it looked "swollen", having spotted his throat appearing to look enlarged.
He posted a follow up video saying he had gone to the doctor and explaining what happened next.
He said: "TikTok told me I had cancer. And it seems like they were right.
"So for those of you who don't know my first couple of TikTik videos were just me talking about my budget and people commented or DM'd me saying my thyroid looked a little enlarged and that I should get it checked out as it might be cancerous.
"And so out of an abundance of caution and just because I get anxious about these sorts of things, I went ahead and got it checked out.

"And long story short, after several rounds of tests and ultrasounds and such we found out that there's a 95 per cent chance that that nodule I had was cancerous."
He explained he chose to have the section that was cancerous removed, pointing to a plaster covering the lower part of his throat.
The young man said he wouldn't be posting videos while he recovered as it hurt to talk, but he thanked his fans for their patience and advice.
The thyroid gland is found at the base of your neck at the front, just behind the hollow where your collarbones meet.
It is a butterfly-shaped gland that makes and releases hormones that regulate your heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature and weight.
It is made up of two lobes connected by a bridge of tissue.
CANCER SIGNS
Thyroid cancer doesn't usually present any signs or symptoms early in the disease.
It is usually found when patients are undergoing ultrasounds, CT scans or MRIs for an unrelated reason.
As the cancer grows it may cause;
- A lump that can be felt or is visible through the skin on your neck
- A change to your voice
- Difficulty swallowing
- A mysterious cough
- Pain in your neck and throat
