DIY gadget that zaps penis ‘works like Viagra – banishing erection problems’

MEN can get a better reception in bed by zapping their willies with radio waves, a study found.

Scientists said a hand-held wand emitting 1 megahertz waves — the same as AM radio channels — combats erectile dysfunction without the need for drugs such as Viagra.

The technique, currently used as a cellulite and anti- wrinkle treatment, strengthens collagen and improves blood flow.

A study by Rambam Hospital in Haifa, Israel, found 14 out of 28 men got “normal erectile function” back after two months of radiofrequency energy treatment.

Of the remaining 14, 11 had “significantly improved” sexual function, and only three did not benefit at all.

Writing in the International Journal of Impotence Research, Dr Ilan Gruenwald said: “Radiofrequency treatment for erectile dysfunction is effective, safe and easily applicable.

“When applied at low frequencies, it causes interactions between charged molecules and ions and creates heat within the tissue.

"The heat causes structural changes resulting in new collagen and elastin fibres.”

Men in the study used it twice a week for one month then once a week for a second month.

An estimated half of men over 40 have erection problems at least sometimes.

Past studies at the University of California found electrical shock wave therapy can also improve erections by increasing blood flow to the targeted area.
