A MUM-of-two "who was never ill" died suddenly in her sleep after a night on the sofa watching Netflix.

Lucy Wilk had put her nine-month-old son Theo to bed before spending a quiet evening with her long-term partner Michal Harabin.

During the night on July 28, the "healthy" 38-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest - when the heart suddenly stops beating and pumping blood.

Paramedics were called but Lucy couldn't be saved and she was pronounced dead that morning.

The "loving" parent, who had recently bought her "dream home" in Plains, North Lanarkshire, leaves behind Michal, Theo and their eldest son Oskar, 12.

She was described as a "very special partner and mum" and "the boys were her world".

Michal, 43, told how he and Lucy had been watching Netflix before going to bed early on the night before his life turned upside down.

"We had planned to wake up early and go somewhere for a nice breakfast," he said.

"I woke up at 7am and heard Theo crying. There was no reaction [from Lucy] so I ran upstairs and she was unconscious [in her bedroom].

"I tried to wake her up but she wouldn’t react. I put her on the floor and started doing CPR while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

"Paramedics spent one hour trying to resuscitate her but she died from a cardiac arrest.

"It’s such a shock for all of us."

Lucy's death came just a week after she had returned to Scotland from visiting her family in Poland with Theo.

She never smoke or drank alcohol, and did not have any known medical issues, according to her partner of 15 years.

Paying tribute to Lucy, Michal added: "I will miss every time we spent together, as well as her smile and laugh.

"She was a very special partner and mum, the boys were her world.

"We travelled a lot, almost twice every year, and she liked that.

"We liked to explore the culture and eat different foods.

"Her loss has had a huge impact on us as a family."

Friend Malgorzata Herner has set up a page to help the family "navigate this heartbreaking loss".

Money raised will help pay for Lucy's funeral, which is on August 17, and assist Michal with day-to-day expenses while he takes time off work to care for the children.

The difference between cardiac arrest and heart attack

A heart attack and cardiac arrest are similar, but not the same.

A heart attack is when the blood supply to the heart is suddenly blocked, usually by a clot.

A cardiac arrest is when the heart stops pumping blood around the body.

Both are emergencies and if you suspect you or someone else might be having either, you should call 999.
