He started a gruelling diet and fitness regime after he was mocked by footie fans for blocking a TV screen in a Spanish bar.

Six years later, Ricky has qualified as a personal trainer - and ditched his 3,500-calorie-a-day diet.

He said: "They were laughing and said 'get out of the way' fatty. They said there was a 'whale blocking the TV'.

"It really hit a nerve. It was nasty and that was the first time anyone had said something to upset me."

After returning from Spain, he sat down for a heart-to-heart with mum Vicky, 44 - who immediately hired a personal trainer.

HE WOLFED DOWN 3,500 CALORIES A DAY

He soon ditched sugary cereals and fizzy drinks for chicken and steamed veg.

After his weight plunged to a healthy 14 stone, he started a sports science degree he began work as a personal trainer.

He said: "I absolutely love it. To see the progress people make gives me a great feeling.

"I want to make a difference to people's lives and I get a proper buzz from it.

"When I look back now, I can't believe what I see. It feels like a lifetime ago. People say it just doesn't look like me.

"I feel like a completely new person now and I will never go back to how I was in that part of my life."

But he ditched half his body weight and now works as a PT
