Surfing no longer all at sea

P&O is offering free city breaks on its exotic fly-cruises in 2017.

You can enjoy free stays in San Francisco, Hong Kong, Dubai, Singapore and Sydney (above) on a selection of itineraries.

Offers include a free city stay on P&O’s Aurora 19-night trip sailing from Singapore to Sydney, departing February 10, 2017. Prices are from £3,599 per person. Book before June 30 this year. See or call 0843 373 0111.

SURFING at sea can be expensive – and tricky – thanks to sub-standard signals and pay-by-the-minute web packages that quickly add up.

But this week Royal Caribbean International announced faster high-speed internet service VOOM is available across its 24-ship fleet.

Through a combination of wifi providers, Royal claim to be able to deliver more overall bandwidth than any other cruise line with speeds twice as fast as before.

There is a cost but Royal’s Surf package is around £8.84 a day, giving access to surf the web, email or social media. To stream movies or music as well as connect to video chat apps including Skype is from £12.24 per day.

PLANET Cruise says it has seen a 25 per cent rise in sales for this summer.

Mediterranean cruise holidays are the most popular, accounting for almost half of all bookings (44 per cent), while holidays to the rest of Europe are second favourite, followed by Norway and the fjords.

And it seems we’re getting more adventurous. Bookings to Australia are up 950 per cent over the past year. Africa is up 130 per cent and the Arctic 131 per cent.
