Stunning $85 million mansion goes up for sale once owned by popstar Cher and comedian Eddie Murphy
The lavish property boasts its own equestrian centre, a Moroccan guest house, swimming pool and hiking trails
A STUNNING mansion which has been owned by popstar Cher and comedian Eddie Murphy had gone on sale for $85 million.
The lavish estate sprawls over 16 acres.
The mansion was created and built by Cher in the late 1970's - not long after she had split with Sonny Bono.
The then four acre plot was ten minutes from Beverly Hills and she enlisted the help of architect Ted Grenzbach.
The singer said they got a lot of ideas for the house from a souvenir book which came with the TV movie "Jesus of Nazareth".
By the time they had finished the mansion was around 10,000 square feet and had an Egyptian theme.
She sold it on to Eddie Murphy in 1988 for just $6.4 million - at the time it was said to have six bathrooms, six bedrooms, a gym, an electronically retractable glass roof and a stunning atrium.
The comedian added a screening room, and in 1990 put the property back up for sale for $9 million.
However he could not sell the house, and managed to sell it in 1995 for $4 million
It was sold to wealthy Mexican businessman Roberto Trouyet -whose family own the Las Brisas hotel in Acapulco.
He put it back up for sale in April 1996 for $9.9 million.

The current owners added hiking and riding trails when they purchased the property, and added acres to the compound through the 1990's.
The main house itself is 20,000 square feet, which is currently under renovation. The property comes with a tennis court and a swimming pool.
It also has its own equestrian centre which has a two-bedroom stable house.
In the garden is a stunning Moroccan sculpture, which sits alongside a 7,000 square foot guest house styled in the same theme.
It has its own spa, sauna and jacuzzi.
Listed by Aaron Kirman from the John Aaroe Group he said of the property: "The unparalleled privacy and acreage in Beverly Hills combined with the equestrian component and riding trails makes this a unique opportunity for a buyer looking to own a true trophy estate."
