The 10 stars who underwent the most drastic body transformations for their fitness DVDs
Chanelle Hayes said she would get fit for a £30k fitness DVD, so we look at the stars who transformed themselves for money
TV personality Chanelle Hayes continues to defy body-shaming trolls and has been snapped tucking into a burger at the pool and stripping off topless for some sunbathing.
That said, when she recently appeared on Loose Women strutting about confidently in a pink bikini, she admitted that she would release a fitness DVD for £30,000.
Well, the former Big Brother housemate certainly wouldn't be the first reality TV star to transform themselves for a DVD deal.
We look back at some of the most remarkable transformations in the name of fitness.
Charlotte Crosby
The 26-year-old Geordie Shore star hasn’t always had the enviably tiny figure and reputation as a healthy gym bunny she has today.
Motivated to take control of her unhealthy lifestyle following the release of unflattering holiday bikini pics, Charlotte traded in her favourite pints of Baileys for a new healthy lifestyle and gruelling fitness regime.
MTV’s party girl went down four dress sizes in a year and can now boast the fastest-selling fitness DVD in the past 15 years - Charlotte's 3 Minute Belly Blitz.
Maintaining a tiny size 8, she has gone on to release her own diet book, Live Fast, Lose Weight, to encourage others to maintain a healthy and happier lifestyle.
She clearly no longer stands by her motto: “Fast Food- everyone knows it’s called that because it makes you go faster”.
Vicky Pattison
Amazing fitness transformations seem to run in the Geordie Shore family, as co-star Vicky Pattison also underwent a body transformation and jumped on the celebrity fitness DVD bandwagon.
The 28 year old plummeted from a size 16 to a size 6 in the last year, causing some to express concern for her tiny new figure.
Competing in the fitness DVD market with her release of Vicky Pattison 7- Day Slim, Vicky believed the pressure she faced to be a certain size, caused her to become obsessive about her weight, ultimately affecting her social life.
Now maintaining a healthy and trim size 8, she’s more concerned with having fun and being able to go out for a Nando’s with her mates (even if she doesn’t ‘get mortal’ anymore).
Charlie Brooks
After having her daughter, Kiki, Charlie Brooks was keen to shed her baby weight.
So, when the opportunity came along to get fit fast and make money in the process, it was a no-brainer.
She released her fitness DVD Before And After Workout in 2006 and was stunned when it became a best-seller.
The former EastEnders actress never claimed to be a fitness queen though and has since struggled to keep the weight off.
She’s admitted she "falls off the wagon a lot when it comes to dieting" and enrolled at a military-style bootcamp in January this year to tackle the post-Christmas bulge.
It’s nice to know we’re not alone.
Kerry Katona
The former Atomic Kitten is known to have struggled with her weight over the years.
Bouncing between 9 and 14 stone, Kerry has recently been offered a massive £30,000 to lose 2 stone in 8 weeks for a new exercise programme.
Following her painful break-up with husband George Kay at the end of last year, the former Kitten decided to focus on herself and her exercise in order to cope.
So far she has dropped three dress sizes and 2 stone, proving single life can be a time to balance the scales.
Previously releasing a fitness DVD in 2010, Kerry Katona Real Fitness, she has gone on to launch her own range of protein shakes and fat-burning pills.
Natalie Cassidy
The former EastEnders actress dropped from a size 16 to a slender size eight for her Then and Now Workout DVD that was released in 2007.
It became the fastest-selling weight-loss DVD in the UK but it was also later rated as the worst by people who bought it – quite the accolade.
Natalie’s weight has yo-yoed over the years and she periodically adopts strict calorie-controlled diets to shift her excess pounds.
Lauren Goodger
After being called a "disgusting beached whale" by trolls after a snap of her running on the beach was published, the 29-year-old Essex star was motivated to face up to her weight issues and get into shape.
Dedicating herself to exercise and healthy eating for a solid six months, and no longer indulging in up to 5,000 calories a day, Lauren lost 4 stone.
She now weighs a healthy 9 stone, down from 13, and attributes her dramatic weight loss to new American fitness system Plyo-dynamics.
Her newfound figure has boosted her confidence and inspired others through her release of Lauren’s OMG! Workout DVD last year.
It’s safe to say the star has gone from ‘beached whale’ to total beach BABE.
Josie Gibson
The Big Brother winner famously shed 6st in a year after seeing unflattering pictures of herself on the beach.
“I look like a total beast,” was her opinion on them – but she certainly didn’t for much longer.
After dropping from a size 20 to a size 8, Josie released her workout DVD Josie Gibson: 30 Second Slim in January 2013.
Within a month, she knocked the celebrity fitness DVD guru, Davina McCall, off the top fitness DVD chart.
How’s that for fitspiration!

Kym Marsh
The Hear’Say star was mortified when judge Nigel Lythgoe compared her to a Christmas goose on the ITV talent show – but it wasn’t body shaming that spurred Kim to get in shape.
As a healthy size 12, the actress became increasingly critical of her body and baby weight but says it’s actually her supportive and loving boyfriend, Matt Baker, who’s helped her get fit and feel great.
Looking very svelte, she released her fitness DVD Power Sculpt last year and has said: “I’m a better version of me than I was in my twenties and I’m so much happier.”
Long may it continue!
Jennifer Ellison
The former glamour model and TV personality released two fitness DVDs over the years showing people how to fight the flab and get her enviable figure.
In recent times, however, Jennifer has ditched her regime and says she’s embracing being the heaviest she’s ever been.
She cut sugar out of her diet for two weeks on an ITV show at the beginning of the year but she quickly relapsed and was pictured bulk buying sugary snacks.
Well, it’s always best not doing things by halves eh?
Vicky Entwistle
Best known as Corrie’s loud Northerner Janice Battersby, Vicky joins our list of celebs who ditched their fish and chips for getting fit.
Following unflattering holiday bikini snaps, Vicky started a new fitness regime, and released a best selling fitness DVD called Weight Off Workout in 2006.
However, making the pounds by shedding them resulted in an unhealthy and obsessive new lifestyle.
As Vicky dropped from a size 14 to a drastic size 4, her social life dwindled and her relationships flailed.
She got to grips with her new obsession though and has now adopted a healthier attitude to diet and doesn't let exercise control her life.
