‘Locked in her cupboard, crying… covered in sweat and vomit’: Brutally honest mum opens up about harsh realities of parenting
The mum was fed up of the fake world of social media... which glosses over the sleepless nights and desperate times
A BRUTALLY honest mum has spoken out about the harsh realities of parenting, after becoming increasingly frustrated by the glossy world of social media.
Storm-Manea Ellyatt, who is from Perth, Australia, has a baby boy called Kai with husband Ashley Ellyatt.
She addressed her warts and all open letter to the ‘no judgement club’, and shared tales of her most desperate moments – when she locked herself in a cupboard and cried in her stained pyjamas.
Criticising the fake world of certain social media accounts and adverts, Storm issues a warning to future parents about what life after children is REALLY like.
Storm wrote: “It feels like a sick joke you never quite understood until this moment.
“All those cute ads, miniature Nike shoes, adorable baby shower gifts, baby spam or Instagram, squad dates with your mum posse and those God damn Lacey Laners (Australian kids clothing company) lied to me.
“Not once did I see an ad with a mum locked in her cupboard crying in her leaked, stained PJs from three days ago, covered in sweat and vomit, praying to every God imaginable for the strength and patience to go back to the s*** show that is now their life.
“The once calm, poised, patient goddess who could sling cocktails, swear with sailors and dance uninhibited until tomorrow afternoon, can barely hold a conversation, hold her eyes open or the tears back from this new found ‘bliss’.

“And the irony, oh the irony that everyone hates it at one point or another but you have to remember that hating it out loud is a kick in the face to everyone that would give everything for a moment of ‘hating it’.
“So you post the photo, you cliché the f*** out of your status because you’re hashtag loving it hashtag mumlife hashtag soblessed and when people ask you, you say with all the vigour of 2 hours sleep ‘it’s honestly the most amazing thing that’s ever happened to me’.
“And when there’s no cameras, no people and no judgement you let out the loudest F*** YOU known to man, although it’s under your breath, or screamed into a pillow, or yellow from the foetal position of your cupboard because your little’s one finally asleep (sic).”
However, Storm’s post also had a lighter message, where she praised her fellow parents for their ‘amazing’ hard work and courage.
“So we somehow pick our shattered self off the floor, trying to piece together a resemblance of a person and do it all again.
“Cheers all you amazing parents that dust yourselves off and do it again, with the smile of a thousand curse words, shattered souls and hopefully a strong coffee or wine in hand.
“You’re my people.”
It’s not the first time the mum has spoken candidly.
Just last week, Storm posted a sarcastic Snapchat selfie and wrote: “Ummm… yes I’m fine with no make-up and looking tired. Cheers for the concern”.
Posting the picture on Facebook, she added: “Thanks Snapchat… lucky I’m too Beyonce to care #bossb****”
