Obese mum loses SEVEN STONE after she was refused entry to a theme park’s water slide because she was too fat
Mum-of-four admitted she almost needed an ambulance after running up the stairs
A MUM who was refused entry to a theme park’s waterslide because she was too fat to fit through the barriers has shed a whopping seven and a half stone.
Mellissa Forbes, 28, tipped the scales at more than 19 stone and was left embarrassed when she was turned away from the ride at the Landmark Forest Adventure Park in Inverness, Scotland.
The NHS home care worker, from Caithness, was so ashamed she ditched her diet of junk food and joined her local Slimming World group in a bid to beat the bulge.
The mum-of-four said: “I had been on holiday with my family and was refused on one of the rides with my kids as I was so big - I knew from that moment I had to lose weight. I'd never been so embarrassed in my life.
“Looking back at photos now I feel embarrassed that I let myself get so big. I’d been big all my life and would get called fat and ugly.
“I never let anyone see how upset I was until I went home where I would sit and eat to make myself feel better."
After joining her local slimming group, Mellissa said goodbye to her diet of takeaways, crisps and chocolate and started exercising on a regular basis along with eating healthier meals.
She said: “I tried many diets, none of which I stuck to until I joined Slimming World."
Mellissa said the new diet allowed her to eat the foods she enjoyed which saw her drop down to a 11st 9lbs.

She added: “Exercise for me before was non-existent. I struggled to climb the stairs without being out of breath and needing to take my inhaler.
“My biggest downfall was crisps - I could eat packets and packets in one sitting and still want more.
“I will treat myself to a bag every now and then but I'm so much more controlled over food binges. I no longer head to the cupboard when I feel down."
Now Mellissa is able to buy clothes from her local shops wand previously she was forced to shop online in order to find the right size.
She's also swapped her black clothing, which she wore to try and hide herself, for more adventurous patterns and colours.
She added: “I was embarrassed and felt self conscious all the time. I wasn't fit to play with my boys which I am now.
“But now I can run up the stairs without nearly needing an ambulance."
The active mum now plays with her kids and walks to exercise classes without worrying what other people think of her.
“People always come up to me and comment on how different I look and my husband and kids all comment on how much better I look," Mellissa added.
“They also say I look so much happier because when I was big I was really miserable."
