Is Nando’s shutting for good? The internet goes into meltdown over rumour Brexit means chicken chain will pull out of the UK
COULD firm British favourite Nando’s be closing its doors because of Brexit?
Twitter users have been sent into a frenzy over rumours that the popular restaurant chain will no longer be serving their Peri Peri goodness up in the UK.
Earlier this week, a warned that cheeky chicken lovers could get some serious repercussions if the Leave campaign was successful.
The article claimed: “Panic has set in across Britain after the popular Portuguese restaurant chain announced it will close every restaurant with immediate effect Friday morning if Britain votes to leave the E.U.”

Reporting on chicken chaos, the post even alleged that customers had begun stockpiling some of their favourite dishes before the result was announced.
The post went on to claim that the tax on food items would soar as a result of Britain going it alone.
After the reports began circulating online, it’s safe to say that foodies weren’t taking the news well.
A despairing diner said: “NANDO’S SAID THEY’LL LEAVE THE UK IF WE LEAVE THE EU.
“WHAT ARE PEOPLE THINKING OF WHEN VOTING OUT?!”
Another demanded: “Oi @NandosUK, I hear you’re shutting because we left the EU.
“Say it ain’t true, because a guy gotta have his protein fix.”
Luckily, the much-loved restaurant has put rumours to rest.
On its official Twitter page, Nando’s confirmed it is a South African food chain, and not actually Portuguese.
A spokesperson also added: “No need to worry, Nando’s is here to stay. There is no truth in any rumours suggesting otherwise.”
Phew! That settles that then.
