ONE man's controversial prank backfired after Twitter users failed to see the funny side to his joke about domestic violence.
Scott Wilkinson, 19, divided opinion after sharing screenshots from a conversation with his friend, in which he pretended to have knocked out his girlfriend April.
Scott sent a panicked text to his friend Josh, saying: "I need to tell you something," prompting his mate to ask what was going on.
The divisive prankster replied by saying: "Me and April was having an argument, and I just pushed her over."
He continued: "And she's unconscious, I dunno what to do man."
His friend, clearly unconvinced by his antics, replied: "Hahahaha leg it April, Tea bag her."
But Scott kept up the ruse, telling Josh that he was serious, before sending over a photo of April lying on the floor, supposedly after she had been shoved down the stairs.
The photo of his 'unconcious' girlfriend was met by laughs from his friend however, who knew the couple were having him on.

Scott then uploaded screenshots of the exchange to Twitter, which he captioned: "Why do non of my mates take me serious?"
And April, who was in on the prank all along, replied to the tweet saying: "kind of horrible how many people are laughing at my lifeless body."
The original tweet, which was posted last week, was retweeted by nearly 10,000 people and liked by over 15,000 - although not everyone saw the funny side.
One girl replied to Scott's tweet saying: "That's disgusting, you don't treat a woman that way."
And one man replied to say: "Wow this is beyond a joke now. How can an abusive relationship get this much recognition for a 'funny' side?! Ridiculous."
But Scott isn't concerned by the backlash at all, since he says he is in a happy, loving relationship and claims his prank was just intended as a joke.
He told : "It doesn’t bother me, because my relationship isn’t abusive. They don’t know us so I don’t care what random people think."
