Grieving mum desperate to replace the blanket she buried her stillborn baby in gets an amazing response from kind Tesco staff
Tamzyn Rollinson was moved to tears as supermarket workers went that extra mile
THE GRIEVING mother of a stillborn child has been moved by an extraordinary act of kindness from staff at Tesco.
After burying her newborn in a blanket, bought by her mother, Tamzyn Rollinson was desperate to find a replica but it was out of stock.
After she told staff at Tesco, through their messenger service, they went to great lengths to replace the blanket.
The next day they arrived with a blanket, a bunch of flowers and a sympathies card.
Tamzyn, 29, lost her baby three weeks ago and wrapped in the blanket as soon as she was born.
In an open letter to Tesco, the Hove mum wrote: “I just want to say a massive thank you to your lovely customer service team.
“I sent them a private message last night to see if they could try and find a baby blanket for me that was currently out of stock everywhere.
“I really wanted to get hold of this certain blanket as my little girl was stillborn nearly 3 weeks ago and this is the same blanket I wrapped her in when she was born so I wanted one for myself to go in her memory box.
“Tesco employees managed to track one down for me this morning and the lovely staff at the Shoreham by sea branch went out of their way to hand deliver me not only the beautiful blanket but a gorgeous bunch of flowers and a card too! It was such a kind thing for you all to do and I thank you so much xx."
Tamzyn and partner David, from Saltdean, West Sussex, wanted to replace the blanket after looking at pictures of her tiny daughter and noticed how big the hearts on the blanket looked.
It would be added to a memory box dedicated to the baby given to her at the hospital which also included a candle, a balloon with a postcard to send to Heaven, and other items.
The grieving mum, who has two more daughters, Frankie, 8, and Lacie, ten, said the Tesco staff made a 16 mile trip to bring flowers, cards and the blanket and the couple were so moved they wrote the letter on Facebook to thank them
The post was shared on Facebook more than 6,000 times and dozens left comments.
