A 78-year-old dad just placed the most cringeworthy dating ad for his single son
The picky parent rules out tall women and anyone who voted for Obama
YOU know your love life has hit rock bottom when your own DAD is forced to interfere.
Wanting his son to settle down, 78-year-old Arthur Brooks paid around £675 for a full-page dating advertisement.
Writing on behalf of bachelor Baron Brooks, 48, Arthur cringe-worthingly reveals that his son would like “to have children as soon as possible”.
It seems that Arthur has some pretty strict guidelines when it comes to who his single son dates.
It’s no surprise that it’s been difficult for Baron to bag a girlfriend when you look at the picky criteria laid out in the dating advertisement.
First, Arthur admits that his son is just 5’5’’ in height, claiming: “if you are 5’8’’ and like to wear high heels then it may not work”.
There's no doubt that similar values are also important to the meddling dad, who insists: “You must be politically conservative… If you voted for Obama or plan to vote for Hillary you are not for me.”
His requirements don’t stop there, as the advert insists that the woman would have to become a “stay at home mum” if they ever had children.
If that wasn’t enough to put any prospective love-matches off, the dad then reveals that he will be vetting each and every one of his son’s dates.
The proud pensioner asked interested singletons to submit a photo and one page description of themselves, before he’ll allow them to be ‘interviewed’.
Even though the advert is written from bachelor Baron’s point of view, he had no idea his dad had published it until he saw it in the Coeur d’Alene Press.
In an interview with , he admitted: "It was so shocking that I wasn't even sure what I was reading, even though I read it twice.
"I thought it was a joke at first."
After describing his own dad as “nuts” and “neurotic”, he admitted that he’d still allow his dad to vet potential dates.
Baron is even planning on seeing some of the women that responded to the advert… but they’ll have to be brave souls to meet his dad’s exacting standards.
Since the dating advertisement has attracted a lot of attention online, Baron was quick to defend Arthur's cunning scheme.
He said: "I want the world to know that although my father 'pants' me in front of the world he did not do this on purpose and he meant well.
"I love my father and have forgiven him."
