Deleted scenes from Disney’s Zootopia reveal aggressive animals wear electric collars to stay in line
Fans took to social media to say they were 'depressed' by dark truth of smash hit film
DELETED scenes from the Disney smash movie Zootopia have revealed the society which shows animals living in harmony was achieved at shocking price.
Fans who have watched the clips on the recently released Blu-Ray and DVD took to Twitter to say how "depressed" they were to learn the more aggressive species were made to wear electric shock collars which helped them learn not to get angry or step out of line.
The footage shows a little bear receiving one of the devices in a Bar Mitzvah style ceremony, called a “Taming Party” with his father looking upset and concerned.
The clip which is a rough animation, is incomplete with dubbed voices, and features characters rabbit Officer Judy and her fox sidekick Nick.
The pair are hiding under a table watching the ‘Taming Party”, which has similarities to the Bar Mizvah, where a Jewish boy, aged 13, becomes a man.
Morris, a young bear, who is the focus of the celebration, is summoned on stage to join his father, while his friends watch.
His Dad says: “With this collar, Zootopia welcomes you” and Morris responds: “With this collar, Zootopia celebrates you.”
However his father then appears upset and finished: “With this collar, Zootopia accepts you.”
He then calls his son over and puts a collar around his neck, with hesitation.
At this point his collar beeps, which is a sign he is getting close to what is deemed in Zootopia society as “unacceptable behaviour.”
Morris asks: “What's wrong papa?” and his father replies, “Nothing. Papa is just happy for you” as he clips the collar shut.
The little bear turns from his anxious dad and goes to enjoy the festivities. But as soon as he starts to get excited his collar flashes and zaps him with an electric shock. Looking upset, he goes to his dad and gives him a hug.
Officer Judy looks at Nick and sees he is wearing a collar that is the same.
In the movie the plot follows the pair trying to track down an otter called Emmitt Otterton, who has gone 'savage' and returned to his feral state.
The deleted scene from the smash hit movie, shows how predatory animals, like bears and foxes, get an electric shock of pain to stop them from stepping out of line.
Fans took to Twitter to share their dismay with one saying: “The original concept was DARK. That Taming Party deleted scene almost made me cry.”
Another said: “The "taming party" version of Zootopia is waaaay more depressing than what's in your head.”
