A bonding break… but with no talk of boobs or cancer

WE have a quote by the anthropologist Margaret Mead hanging up in CoppaFeel!’s Boob HQ that reads: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world – indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

Sometimes I need reminding how much we have achieved as a small team. With passion and determination, a loud voice can be produced. But working in the charity sector is hard work.

The love of the cause means we are committed and willing to put up with long hours and less pay than in other areas.

It goes without saying, though, that the main benefit of working for us or any charity is the impact you will have on somebody.

At Boob Towers we like to be creative with how we ensure our staff are looked after.

So, we took our team to Cornwall to have a bonding weekend.

That may sound cheesy, but it was a far cry from those awful forced corporate away weekends, and really just a bit of chill time in the country with people who really understand and share your enthusiasm for Love Island on ITV2 (it’s not even a guilty pleasure any more, it’s simply a pleasure).

We are all united by a will to have a positive effect on the world around us. We want to ensure everyone stands the best chance of beating breast cancer, but this weekend we downed tools and talked about anything but boobs and cancer.

It was an overdue opportunity to get to know my team on a different level and to recharge before a busy summer of festivals and campaign work.

I didn’t employ my team to become my best friends – I employed them because they are all incredibly focused, driven, passionate and hard-working individuals.
