Nine reasons you should always AVOID juice diets if you want to lose weight
There are many forms of juicing - but no matter how you do it, it's likely to yield poor results in the long-run

THE juice detox is like wearing new underwear – you feel better, without there being a visible difference.
There are many forms of juicing and different ways of doing it, but here are nine reasons you should always stick to solids...
Low Protein Intake
Protein is vital for a diet in order to build immune-cells and to regenerate muscles, especially after training.
If you train while on a juice diet, there is a much higher risk of injury.
Low Calorie Intake
When the body doesn’t get a healthy amount of calories, it automatically enters ‘starvation mode’ and conserves calories by slowing down the metabolism.
This results in difficulties in losing weight in the long term.
Low Fibre Intake
Fibre is another important factor for a healthy diet as fibre helps to remove waste products from the body, such as excess hormones.
Not getting enough fibre also leads to constipation.
Side Effects
Hunger pangs, stomach pains, moodiness, headaches and changes in bowel functions are just a few of the side effects.
Even though these aren’t ‘serious’, if you are on medication, pregnant or diabetic this diet is extremely unhealthy and sometimes even fatal.
Too Much Sugar
Too much sugar causes a fast release of glucose into the bloodstream, causing an insulin spike - encouraging a larger fat storage and increasing the threat of diabetes.
In addition to this, if you consume too much sugar - of which there's a high quantity in most juices - your teeth slowly start to decay.
Post-Diet Overeating
When cutting out your favourite foods for a period of time, your cravings will grow, often resulting in an overeating phase following a juice diet.
Weight loss during juicing mostly consists of water weight, so once normal food is consumed again, all pounds shed, if not more, will likely return.
Fault in Preparation
If you are preparing your own juice and the fruit and vegetables are non-organic, there is a possibility of drinking dangerous toxins.
Yes, you can remove the peel - but by doing that you are throwing away what little fibre there is.
You should always use organic fruit and veg, but not everyone has the extra cash to afford such pricey produce.
You Don’t Need to Detox
Many start juicing to get rid of toxins and waste products from the body - however, the human body already has a great ‘detox system’ thanks to our liver, intestines and kidneys.
Juicing doesn’t change the way we detox, nor the speed of the process.
Gut-Rest is Unhealthy
People believe that if you let your gut rest, it will work more efficiently once you start eating again – FALSE!
The bacteria that live in your intestines require nourishment of a broad variety in order to keep the whole system safe and running.
Not eating often results in a severe and irreversible form for constipation - so use it or lose it.
