‘What am I going to do with my life now?’ Love Island is over, and fans are worried about how they’ll cope without it

Some Twitter users were really upset that it's all over and expressed how much they'll miss the show

THE Love Island finale should have been cause for celebration – but viewers have been left distraught at the thought of what to do with their evenings after the series came to an end.

After weeks of intrigue, romance and one Miss Britain scandal, loved-up Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey were crowned the winning couple of Love Island in the finale on Monday.

When given the opportunity to keep the £50,000 prize winnings, Cara chose to share it with her lover.

But fans of the ITV2 show, who tuned in to watch the latest shenanigans in the villa for the last six weeks, have expressed how upset they were and spoke of how much they'll miss it.

One Twitter user wrote: "Devastated it's the last #loveisland - what am I going to do this summer?"

Another commented: "I cried when it finished."

Others went on to moan about the fact they'll miss seeing muscled-bod Alex from their screens.

One crazed fan wrote: "It's a real shame that this specimen will not be gracing my TV screen any longer."

The good news  a spin-off series called Love Island: Heading Home is planned for later this month when all the couple will be brought back to face each other in the UK.

And next year we'll be back for more romance as it's been confirmed that the reality show will be back for a third run.

Creative Director ITV Studios Richard Cowles said: “We couldn’t be more proud of the show which has found its perfect match in ITV2.

“We had well over a million loyal viewers tuning in to each episode and a million more watching via the ITV Hub – all desperate to get the latest news from the Love Islandvilla.

"We can't wait to do it all again next year and have already started the search for a brand new cast of singles looking for love."

GME Director of Programming, Tony Moulsdale, said: "Love Island has gone from strength to strength with a fantastic second series drawing an ever larger and more engaged audience.

"We're delighted to be working with ITV Studios to deliver more next year."
