According to science, getting enough sleep is the secret to a healthier and happier sex life, so try and catch a few extra winks to increase your libido.

Recent research conducted by the University of Michigan looked at the sleeping patterns and sex drives of 171 ladies’ for two weeks.

And incredibly, when women had more sleep they said they felt more turned on the next day and those in relationships said they felt especially horny.

Of the women who did have a partner, 14 per cent were more likely to have sex when they spent an extra hour sleeping.

Overall, the women who had slept for longer felt better genital arousal and were more inclined to get down and dirty, compared to those who had slept less.

Study author David Kalmbach, Ph.D, explained: “Our study showed that good sleep is important for healthy sexual desire and arousal in women, even when women are psychiatrically and medically healthy.
