Fashion blogger Becky took to Twitter to share her outrage over the controversial price difference

A FASHION blogger has slammed online clothing brand Boohoo for allegedly charging more for its plus-sized clothes.

Becky, from Hampshire, was browsing on the Asos website when she spotted two embroidered hem maxi dress with different prices.

One "standard" outfit was priced at £25, while the exact same dress but in plus-size was £10 more expensive at £35.

Outraged, Becky took to Twitter to slam Boohoo, writing: "So cute when brands charge extra for the same dress in a couple of extra sizes @boohoo @Asos."

Her post garnered many angry responses with Chelsea tweeting: "Why have they made it longer? Can't us fatties show any leg above the knee?"

But Kelly, who tried to defend the pricing, wrote: "To be fair, the larger sizes do use more material."

Asos, who responded to the complaint, said: "They may look the same, but they have different pricing models and codes as they're classed as separate items."

They also denied responsibility for the pricing adding: "Also these aren't made by us, so have no sway over them."

But it only furthered more frustration with Becky, replying: "But why is the plus size one more expensive?"

Asos insisted that the products were "separate items" and therefore "don't come under the same product codes".

Boohoo eventually responded saying the "prices vary from time to time and are subject to change but all depends on the suppliers".

Clever Becky then pointed out that the "standard"dress was also available in size 16 - which is classified as a plus-size.

She sarcastically added: "Ah yeah because that extra inch of material costs so much."

Later on, the blogger noticed Asos allegedly dropped the prices of their own branded dresses.

The Asos Salon Midi Prom frock was originally priced at £95 but then dropped by £10 to £85 - equivalent to the "standard" one.

Both companies have now removed the plus-size version of the original dress from their websites.

A spokesperson for Asos said: ""We work with brands to encourage fair pricing strategies and price our own brand consistently across all our markets.

"Where there are discrepancies, we will aim to amend the price as we have done in this instance”

The Sun has contacted Boohoo for comment.
