Here’s the embarrassing TV role you never knew Spencer Matthews took before Made In Chelsea
You may have heard the lady's man worked in the City before he got famous, but what EXACTLY was he doing?
THE posh ladies and gents of Made in Chelsea are now familiar faces on our screens, but this wasn’t always the case.
So what exactly was lothario Spencer Matthews, who recently left the show due to a short stint on I’m a Celeb! and THAT steroid scandal, doing before he was famous?
Spencer, 26, is the younger brother of James Matthews – who went public with his proposal to Pippa Middleton earlier this week.
Their parents David and Jane own the luxury St Barts hotel Eden Rock – listed as one of the top 100 hotels in the WORLD.
But Spencer hasn’t just lived off his parents’ fortune – he once embarked on a career in the bustling City.
You may remember that in Season 1 of the show, way back in 2011, Spencer and Hugo used to sit around and discuss their careers as traders over an evening tipple – while never actually seeming to go to work.
In 2014, Spencer told Square Mile magazine: “I was a trader in the City for quite a few years before I started filming for Made in Chelsea.
“I was pretty much the only posh bloke in a room full of Essex wide-boys.
“For a time I was trying to juggle a job in the city and filming Made In Chelsea.
“I was at my desk at work for 5.45am finished at 6pm then onto a taxi-bike across town to Chelsea to film for the show till about 11pm.”

And now evidence has emerged that Spencer did, indeed, have a ‘real job’ in 2010/2011, at City Index.
