THIS is the heart-stopping moment a man was flung off a cliff in a horror water slide accident.

David Salmon was lucky to be left alive after the terrifying accident saw him launched into the air by the shoddy slide, built in a mate's garden in Dallas, Texas.

Footage shows David take on the private slide's sharp bend at high speed, before he is flung off the edge of the homemade construction and into the air.

The horror accident left David in hospital, after he broke his arm and fractured his ribs on the rough hillside 10 feet below him.

He shared the video on his page, where he revealed that he had been taken to hospital in Round Rock as a result of the shocking accident.

Joking that he was "too dang old to be going down water slides," David also said that the accident left his back, arms and side cut on the rocky ground where he landed.

However, David, from Dallas, said he can see the humour in the footage, which went viral shortly after it was uploaded last week.

He told : "I'd gone down a few times and it was fast.

"But this time, I just couldn't slow down, even threw my arm out, and went right over the edge.

"I could have easily broken my neck or my back.

"And this could have been way worse.”

In the shocking mobile phone footage you can hear David's friends screaming with horror as he is launched off the slide.

But David was keen to share the video on Facebook to reassure his mates that he was okay.

He added: "I posted it basically so my friends could have a laugh or just know that I was ok.

"I’m not one of those people who loves attention.

"So I don't want to be famous because of this freak accident.”
