Miss England finalist converts a stinky old toilet block into a stunning seaside house in Cornwall… and it could be yours for £595,000
Charlotte Thomson bought the abandoned block for £115,000 and has spent the past year transforming it into a home
A MISS England finalist has proved she has brawn as well as beauty by converting a former public loo into a stunning seaside property with beautiful views.
FHM High Street Honeys winner Charlotte Thomson has proved she isn’t just an everyday builder.
The former model turned property developer transformed the public toilets in Charlestown, Cornwall where Poldark is filmed, into a plush new home offering some of the best coastal views.
Charlotte bought the 502 sq ft property in March 2015 for £115,000 but since the first series of Poldark was shot in the historic Georgian port house prices in the area have skyrocketed.
Charlotte and her fiancé Joey Auger worked flat out on the build since early March and the results are incredible.
The pair have completely transformed the drab loo with a view which and now it boasts a hot tub, under floor heating and state of the art sound system.
It's now on the market for £595,000 and has had interest from a local celebrity chef.
Charlotte said: "We've worked six days a week for seven months solidly starting at 7.30am and working till between 6-8pm most days.
"We weren't intending to do so much of the project ourselves but were let down by a lot of people and struggled to find good local tradesmen that were reliable - so just got stuck in and did it ourselves.
"We brought it for £115k and no expense has been spared.
"There is a hot tub overlooking the sea and under floor heating throughout."
And now the couple already had a new renovation project lined up: "We will have a few months off to recover before starting that,” she explained.
"It's a stunning Beach House in Smugglers Cove Cornwall that needs entirely gutting and rebuilding so we're really looking forward to that.
“That's the only reason we've decided to sell the property in Charlestown.
"We're definitely going to miss it - it's been a magical office for seven months."
When they bought the original toilet block auctioneer Graham Barton said the final selling price had been a breathtaking outcome.
He said: “It was a spectacular lot I haven't seen something with so much potential in as long as I can remember.
“This is arguably the most gloriously located residential development opportunity for sale in Cornwall today.
“It has stunning panoramic and jaw dropping sea views.”
