Crying after sex is actually perfectly natural.

Psychosexual therapist Denise Knowles explained to The Tab why this may happen.

She said: "For many [they cry] when they have orgasmed [because] when [the sex] comes to an end that sense of closeness, happiness and contentment is over."

However, apart from any emotional attachment, hormones can also play a part.

Denise goes on to explain how feel-good hormones such as oxytocin and dopamine can also play a part.

This is because once sex is over; the levels of these hormones drop, which can leave people open and vulnerable to feeling sad or teary.

So, these tears are neither happy, nor sad and fall in a pretty grey area – however it is probably best to see it as a massive compliment.

Denise adds: "It's not so much about it being sad tears, it's just about feeling like 'we've been really close and I'm sad that it's over', the concern is 'when am I ever going to be that close to my partner again'?"

So try not to get too freaked out about doing something wrong, your partner probably just really likes you…
