THE latest twist in Making a Murderer has seen Brendan Dassey’s murder conviction overturned… and now the keen wrestling fan might have one of his dreams come true.
Following news that Brendan will be released from jail in the next 90 days, supporters have set up a petition to help celebrate his freedom.
Last March, it was reported that wrestling superfan Brendan wasn’t able to watch the WWE event because of his prison sentencing.
According to , broadcasting of the iconic sports event is banned in the Colombia Criminal Institution in Wisconsin because a rule prohibits “violence, foul language and nudity for TV viewing”.
In the online TV series, fans may recall the moment that Brendan is devastated by the news that he’d be missing WrestleMania.
Since news of his potential release has begun circulating on social media, fans are planning a touching surprise for the exonerated prisoner.
An online page, set up by petitioner Matthew Kirk, states: "Dassey, now 27, was originally convicted of helping his uncle, Steven Avery, in the murder of Teresa Halbach but a federal judge has ruled that his constitutional rights were violated when he was grilled, without a parent or his lawyer present, at the age of 16.
“We ask that the WWE and Vince McMahon help make his dream come true and send Brendan Dassey to WrestleMania."
Since the petition was posted online, the campaign to send Brendan to WrestleMania has taken off.
One Twitter user said: “Brendan Dassey from Making a Murderer got his conviction overturned, get this kid to WrestleMania!!!”
Another insisted: “Brendan Dassey will finally get to watch WrestleMania.”
