Oscar Smith was crowned Britain's sleepiest child after a nationwide search for hilarious sleeping photos

It's official: little Oscar Smith is Britain's sleepiest child.

After a nationwide search for the UK's sleepiest child, seven-year-old Oscar was crowned the winner after being caught on camera nodding off on a pal's pony.

He had been mucking out at a friend's stables when he decided to climb onto the back of white pony Dipsy for forty winks.

Mum Katie said she couldn’t believe it when she walked in on the scene.

 He had been helping to clean out the stables and look after the horses all day, and was really worn out

“When I saw Oscar had dozed off on the back of the horse I couldn’t stop laughing - it was such a funny sight.

“I wasn’t that surprised really as he had worked really hard helping muck out the stables.”

And Oscar was delighted to have won a new bed, as he'd never had one of his own before.

He beat off hundreds of entries to win the top prize - here are the runners up.

3. Joshua Davis' mum Siobhan was surprised she had "finally worn him out" after he fell asleep in the middle of a path on their way home from a trip into town.

5. Noah and Poppy March-Jones, 7 and 5, ended up flat out on a park bench on a recent trip to London.

A poll of 2000 parents by competition organiser Time4Sleep found 43% of children had fallen asleep in their food, while 28% had dozed off on the loo.

25% of parents also said their kids had fallen asleep in a shopping trolley, and 12% while doing their homework.
