Hundreds of hungover people took to the online forum to divulge their most cringe-worthy message mistakes.

One guy revealed he sent his mum some rather X-rated snaps after a night on the sauce.

"I was drunk at my friend's house party. I found a phone on the floor, and decided to take a picture of my penis and send it to the person's mother,” he wrote.

"Next day, when I sobered up, MY mum asked me, 'why did you send me a picture of your penis?'"

Another user was left red-faced after a similar awkward incident: "A couple of months ago I drunk texted my mom a bunch of nudes. She was cool about it."

A few too many beers led one man to confess to a crime he never committed.

He wrote: "Admitted that I killed a friend's cat with Anti-Freeze.

"I did not kill this cat. I only heard of this incident on that night.

"Needless to say we are not friends anymore."

Mistaken identity is a common problem for those who reach for their phones while on the wine.

One guy accidentally sent a romantic message to his boss: "Instead of my girlfriend, I sent 'I just want to be your perfect man. :)' to my new boss two weeks after I'd been hired.

"I didn't realize I'd sent it to him until I woke up the next morning with his response.

"'Sorry, Taizek. But the only perfect man for me is Liam Neeson.'"

While another guy sparked concern after sending a worrying joke to his dad.

He revealed: "I was drunk texting with my sister, and she said something that made me crack up.

"I text back, ‘Help I'm dying' which is what we always text each other after a particularly funny comment.

"Only I sent it to my dad by mistake. I continued to text my sister completely unaware for a few minutes, then went to sleep.

“I woke up to pounding on my door at 3am because my dad woke up and saw my text and then couldn't get hold of me."

Hitting send before you finish a message can also cause a heap of trouble as one tipsy guy found out.

"Recently, one of my best friends text me the word 'help' at around 3 am. I only saw it once I woke up and was calling our mutual friends to try to see if he was OK (he was in another city),” he wrote.

"Turns out, he 'needed help finishing a bottle of wine.' I was just a little bit infuriated."

While another social media user added: "I woke up one morning after heavily drinking with a pounding headache. I fumbled around for my phone. Tried to turn it on to check the time but it was dead.

"After it came back on I had literally went through all of my contacts calling each person and sending a lot of 'heyyy' texts while I was drunk. I don't remember any of it."
