Check in, check out the ibis Styles London Heathrow Airport
What’s it like? New and cool with bright and chic decor. Less than ten minutes from Heathrow, it’s the perfect pre or postflight hotel. Public buses from the tube for Terminals 1, 2 and 3 take you to the door. There’s a £4.50 shuttle service from the hotel to the terminal or you can take a cab. Quick check-in and parking available.
Rooms any good? All 140 rooms have air con and their “Sweet Bed” is so sweet, you’ll struggle to drag yourself out of it to catch your flight. Spacious rooms with a tea and coffee maker, TV, lovely clean bathroom and, what all hotels should have, free wifi. Facilities for the disabled too.
Eat here or grab a pizza? Grab a pizza here! The menu at Foggs Kitchen & Bar restaurant may not be huge, but the food is delicious. I dived into the superb four cheese pizza (£9.95, including a side of chips) and my wife enjoyed a make-your-own £10.95 salad. It stops serving at 11pm but guests can order small dishes 24 hours a day. Continental breakfast is included and a cooked brekkie is an extra £5.
What else? It gets you in the mood for flying with fun plane-inspired features. LED lighting on the floor guides you to your room, bedside tables resemble hostess trolleys and even the artwork is quirky. We had a duck looking at us from the outside of an aircraft window! You’ll love your hotel ground crew, friendly and helpful. Got time? Windsor Castle is less than nine miles away.
So you’d go back? Definitely – perfect if you need to catch an early flight. Good food and a sound sleep to get you in the holiday mood.
What’s the damage? Rooms from £59, including breakfast. See .
