‘I’m disgusted’

Parents outraged after Aldi’s new ‘sensitive’ baby wipes brings children out in a ‘major rash’

Two mums have accused the budget retailer of failing to disclose changes to the product and misleading customers by using the same packaging

OUTRAGED mums say a change to Aldi's sensitive baby wipes has brought their children out in nasty rashes.

Beccie Saxon ranted about her daugher's reaction to the Mamia product on Facebook.

In her post, which has now been shared more than 10,000 times, Beccie said: “Warning to all mums that buy these wipes.

“I bought these wipes on the 13th and as soon as I opened them I knew they smelt different.

“After I had used them my little girl had a major rash. I didn’t connect the two straight away but after using cream it hadn’t gone and was still really bad, the worse it’s ever been.”

She continued: “I changed her wipes to the old ones and as soon as I used them the next morning the rash had gone.

Beccie added: “After my partner emailed them they said they have actually changed supplier.

"Same packaging yet different suppliers and different ingredients. How can you still have what awards they have won on the front when it’s different. I now won’t be using them again.”

Beccie says the quantity of aloe and chamomile used appears to have change.

In her letter to the food giant she said they should not be using “the same packaging as the old ones to mislead customers into thinking they are purchasing the same wipes that have been safe for their baby before”.

Another mum Lisa Wear, from Hyde, Manchester, said her nine-month-old daughter Gracie had also come out in a rash after using the wipes.

Responding to Beccie’s post, she said: “I have been blaming everything from teething to my little girl eating something that didn’t agree with her.

“I didn’t think about the wipes because they haven’t affected her bum, just her face has a rash.

"I’m disgusted. They should put a notice up saying they have changed something.”

Lisa has now complained to Aldi.

In its response to Beccie’s complaint, Steph Clancy, from Aldi’s customer services, said: “We have recently had a change in supplier for the baby wipes.”

She said that all Aldi products "undergo a comprehensive approval process before they are sold in stores".

Responding to Beccie’s packaging complaint in a second letter, Aldi said: “In regards to the same packaging being used, I will pass this over to the buying department to look into with the supplier.”

In a statement Aldi said: “All of our baby and toddler products are rigorously tested before going on sale and all ingredients are clearly labelled on the packaging.

“As with all cosmetic products, there is the possibility of an individual intolerance to a particular ingredient. We are sorry to hear about Ms Saxon’s experience with this product and have raised this with our supplier.”

The Sun Online has contacted Aldi for comment.
