Couple who met on Deal or No Deal are getting married – and plan to invite Noel Edmonds as a guest of honour
Graham Whipp and Lyn Carr even plan to say ‘deal’ at the altar rather than ‘I do’
A COUPLE who met on Deal or No Deal are banking on a happy ending – after getting engaged.
Graham Whipp, 43, won far more than just £50,000 on the hit show – he also won the heart of fellow contestant Lyn Carr, 44, after host Noel Edmonds told them they were meant to be together.
Now they’re planning to tie the knot 15 months after appearing on the game show - and Noel is top of their guest list.
Lyn, a mum-of-four and hotel receptionist from Newcastle, said: “We are absolutely over the moon.
“I never went on Deal or No Deal thinking that I would meet my future husband, but I did.”
Lyn and Graham, a civil servant from Essex, met in the green room of the show’s set in Bristol and became ‘best friends’ during the two-week filming period in November 2014.
When it came time for Lyn to reveal her box as Graham took on The Banker, she told him he was ‘the nicest man’ she had ever met.
On air, cheeky host Noel asked both Lyn and Graham if they were single, to which they both replied 'yes'.
He then went on to joke that they may be the first couple to have a ‘Deal or No Deal’ wedding.
Graham managed to walk away from the show with £50,000 in the episode, which aired in April last year, while Lyn won £6,000 in her episode which aired on May 27 2015.
At the end of the shoot, Graham mustered to courage to ask Lyn out on a date and she delightedly accepted.
In the weeks and months followed, the pair travelled hundreds of miles to visit one another as Lyn was based in Newcastle while Graham lived in Essex.
Lyn eventually introduced Graham to her four children Sophie 24, Chloe 22, Max 15, Evan, 11, and the pair began going on family holidays together.
Graham spent his cash setting up a building company, threw a big party for his friends and family and even took Lyn to Jamaica on a romantic holiday.
Last month, romantic Graham popped the question to Lyn during a helicopter ride across the coast of Florida - just 20 months after the end of filming.
Speaking about their nuptials, Lyn explained: “It’s still early days at this stage, so we haven’t set a date but we are going to invite Noel.
“I think he’ll feel like he predicted the future with us now that we are the first Deal or No Deal marriage.
“He was certainly instrumental to our relationship.”
Lyn said she had been watching the show for years and decided to sign up when her two daughters fell into unemployment and was hoping for a financial injection.

She also spent some of the cash taking her four children and Graham on a holiday to Ibiza in July last year.
Graham said that he didn’t have any plans to propose to Lyn before they went to Florida for a two-week holiday, but said the moment ‘felt completely right’.
He went ring shopping while he was out there and devised a plan to have him and Lyn in one helicopter ride while her two sons rode in another.
Graham said: “I was instantly attracted to Lyn, she was so friendly and so kind, we just clicked.
“We were out in Florida and I just realised that the timing felt completely right.
“I had absolutely no plan, I just went out and bought a ring and booked a helicopter ride.”
The pair hope to change their vows to say ‘deal’ instead of the traditional ‘I do’.
Lyn joked: “Graham said we need get someone to say, ‘Lyn, will you take Graham, deal or no deal?’ when we get married.
“He said he was planning to ask that when he proposed but got carried away with the moment.”
Last month The Sun revealed Deal or No Deal was being axed after 11 years on our screens.
Channel 4 said the studio-based programme would end this autumn but episodes would be filmed on tour around Britain at the end of the year.
Lyn added: “It’s quite sad that the show won't go on because if it wasn’t for the Deal or No Deal we would never have met.”
