Would you pay $1m for this painting? Eamonn and Ruth mock bizarre ‘child’s drawing’ worth a fortune in How The Other Half Lives
Viewers weren't convinced about this bloke's art collection
THIS painting may look like a ‘child’s drawing’, but it’s worth an absolute fortune.
In a new Channel 5 show, How the Other Half Lives, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford dip their toes into the lifestyles of the lavishly rich.
When the dynamic duo went to visit hotel owner Vikram Chatwal, they were shocked at the value of some of his family heirlooms.
The billionaire’s son was quick to flaunt his art collection, which included an array of modern paintings, including one by world-renowned Pablo Picasso.
While Eamonn and Ruth had a nosey through Vikram’s collection, viewers were left feeling a bit confused by one of the displays.
A painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat caught everyone’s attention, with Eamonn even claiming it looks like a kid’s drawing.
Baffled Ruth agreed: “I must dig out some of the kids’ drawings.”
Amused by the pairs reaction, Vikram joked: “If it was my daughter’s homework from school it would probably be worth a little less.”
Staggeringly, the childish canvas is actually worth a bank-busting £760,000.
It’s safe to say that viewers would not cough up the colossal cost to pay for the painting.
A flabbergasted Twitter user remarked: “A million dollars for that stick figure drawing? I’ve got better on my fridge!!”
Another added: “This art collection is so stupid.”
It’s not the first time that Ruth and Eamonn have struggled to get to grips with some of the stars of How the Other Half Lives.
In yesterday’s episode, Eamonn was quick to mock an ice cream sundae, which was worth a whopping £1,000.
Instead of praising the decadent dessert, the cheeky presenter claimed it tasted more like a high-street Cornetto!
Eamonn & Ruth: How the Other Half Lives will return to our screens next Thursday at 6pm.
