Who is Kristhielee Caride? After Miss Universe Puerto Rico loses her tiara court battle here’s what we know
As the Latina stunner was stripped of her crown we give you the low-down on the dazzling diva
Kristhielee Caride, the stunning beauty was sensationally stripped of her crown following a series of diva-like incidents.
She competed in the Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2016 competition coming in first place and claiming the twinkling tiara.
However the glitz and glory was not to last as she was ceremoniously dethroned four months later in March 2016 as a result of her bad behaviour which caused embarrassment to the competition co-ordinators.
The beauty gave some serious attitude during an interview with a Puerto Rican newspaper in which she said that she doesn’t like cameras.
She has also reportedly refused to use a designated hair salon and failed to appear on a TV programme due to bad traffic.
During a press conference, Desiree Lowry, the national director of the competition announced the sacking.
She said: "I saw the damage that she was doing and the damage that she was doing to the organisation.
“Miss Puerto Rico is a public figure and part of your job is to be in front of the camera.
"You always have to put your best face forward. It's a given that we are going to be in front of cameras and that we have to answer all types of questions."
Kristhielee, who was representing Isabel, later posted an apology on her Facebook.
She said: "Beauty queens are not exempt from having a bad day. I allowed my feelings to get in the way of my work.
"I would like to express my most sincere apologies to each and every one of my fans first of all those who have supported me from the first moment, to my work team and the organisation of miss universe Puerto Rico.
"It was never my intention to make you feel bad, hurting or damaging the image of those who have helped me to be where I am today.”
Following the incident the runner-up Brenda Jimenez took over the role, but the saga didn’t end there.
Kristhielee decided not to have over her crown without a fight and launched a legal battle in a bid to re-claim her title.
She sued the competition co-ordinators for £2.25million in damages.
It was today announced that she had lost her legal battle as the judge ruled that she had violated the terms of her Miss Universe contract.
