How your old iPod, tamagotchi or polaroid camera could sell for £100s on eBay
If you’ve got an old polaroid camera knocking about it could fetch up to £200
IF you’re the kind of person who doesn’t throw away your old gadgets then you could be sitting on a small fortune.
The online auction website, eBay, has seen a massive rise in nineties and noughties technology being listed and it’s sometimes selling for hundreds of pounds.
The polaroid camera, which was first released in February 1972 and cost £140, is being sold on eBay for up to £205.
While the iPod Classic, complete with click wheel, is being sold for up to £105.
The Tamagotchi, a staple of the playground in the late nineties, is being sold for up to £26.
Whereas a Gameboy complete with a red or blue Pokemon game and Sony Mini Disc are fetching £75 and almost £50, respectively.
The website, which is celebrating its 21st birthday today, has put together a list of the most popular retro gadgets, ranked by the amount of listing and searches made for each item.
Murray Lambell, head trading at eBay UK, said: “From the resurgence of Pokémon to the re-emergence of Star Wars, the last 12 months has been a year of retro.
“Our trends report shows that the British public’s appetite for the old-school is also making itself felt in the world of consumer technology.
“Families with previously loved tech hidden away in attics and drawers could be sitting on a tidy sum.”
If you’ve got a collectors edition gadget that has never been opened then you could be in line for even more cash.
Earlier this month a sealed rate sold for just under £770.
While a rare unopened is currently listed on the website for just under £920.
