You must be yoke-ing!

Using just this one thing can make peeling your boiled egg really easy

It's a simple kitchen hack and could speed up how you quickly you can knock up a salad

BOILED eggs might be tasty and keep you full for ages, but they are a right pain to cook.

OK, so bunging them in water then boiling for a few minutes (probably around eight if you're counting) isn't such a big deal - what what about that peeling?

Anyone who's a fan will know the pain of desperately scratching off shell and trying not to break up the white.

Apparently there's a super easy way to speed up the process though, and all you need is some baking soda.

Just chuck a teaspoon of the powder into the water you're boiling your eggs in, and the shell should come off a lot easier.

That's according to WBTV's Morning Break show anyway.

It's all to do with changing the alkaline content. Older eggs are more alkaline and are easier to peel when you hard boil them, so adding some baking soda to the water changes the alkalinity and has the same effect.

That's the theory anyway, and there are loads of blogs which back it up.

Unfortunately things didn't go quite to plan when Morning Break tested the hack.

The two presenters were given an egg each to peel, with the obvious hope the shell would break away from the inner egg quickly and easily.

It didn't quite work though, with presenter Coach LaMonte Odums declaring: "This hack is wack."

His co-star Chris Larson was a little kinder though, declaring the shell was coming away a little easier than usual if not all in one go.

He added that they weren't sure how long the eggs had been boiled for, which could have been the problem.

That's not the only hack that's come to light recently - how about this for peeling garlic, or this advice on thawing out meat.
