There’s a crazy conspiracy theory that Avril Lavigne died in 2003…and people actually believe it
Internet bloggers think the Avril impostor has made cries for help through subliminal messages in her CDs
A CRAZY conspiracy theory that Avril Lavigne died in 2003, and has been replaced by a doppelganger for over a decade, is currently sweeping the web.
The ‘real’ Sk8er Boi singer passed away shortly after the release of her debut album and was replaced by an imposter, according to the bizarre story.
Keyboard warriors reckon Avril, who turned 32 yesterday (September 27), slipped into depression because of the pressure of fame and the sad death of her grandad.
She was then found dead at her home and replaced with an impostor called Melissa Vandella, according to the rumour mill.
Writing on the blog, one Brazilian theorist said: “Avril’s lookalike would have been almost identical, but I said almost!”
The commenter then goes on to analyse the shape of Avril’s nose, her autograph and her voice – which they claim has had a different tone and been increasingly out of tune since 2003.
While Avril’s second album Under My Skin is thought to be a ‘subliminal message’ from the fake Avril.
The blogger continues: “Launched in 2004, it is completely different to the first CD! It’s an album full of subliminal messages apparently left by the ‘New Avril’.
“The CD is called ‘Avril Under My Skin’, this is very suggestive! From here it was no longer true Avril, but ‘Avril Lavigne’ under the skin of another singer!
“The ‘New Avril’ poses for photos always sad and morbid expression, sometimes dropped to the ground as if to say something.”
Apparently, Avril has gone through a ‘sudden and radical change in the style and personality’.
While Google now lists Avril’s height as 5ft1, and it used to say 5ft 2 in 2002. The blogger continues: “A person can grow, but shrinking? Impossible!”
Luckily, we can confirm that Avril is still very much alive – and has just celebrated yet another birthday.
