You can now spend Halloween night in a coffin in the real Dracula’s castle in Transylvania

Those who dare will be greeted by Dracula character Jonathan Harker when they arrive at their home for the night in a horse-drawn carriage.

LOOKING for something a bit spooky to do this Halloween? Dracula’s Castle is open for business.

Airbnb is giving two brave souls the opportunity to stay in the eerie castle this October 31.

Dacre Stoker, the great-grandnephew of Dracula author Bram Stoker, has thrown open the doors to Bran Castle in Transylvania, Romania, for the lucky winners who will be the first to stay there since 1948.

The castle is famous for its connection to Vlad the Impaler, a real-life prince who stayed there in the 15th century and had a cruel habit of using stakes to impale his victims. Vlad inspired Stoker’s story of Count Dracula.

Vlad the Impaler did not own the castle, but is believed to have used it briefly while he stayed in Transylvania.

He is also believed to have been imprisoned in the castle for two months in 1462 when he was captured by a rival Hungarian king.

Vlad gruesomely impaled his victims as punishment for wrongdoing.

His victims supposedly included all the elderly residents of one community to avenge the deaths of his father and brother.

Dacre Stoker told : “I want to make it both realistic and show the legend in the wonderful country that birthed the whole thing.”

Dacre will play the role of Jonathan Harper and plans to welcome people into the castle using Dracula’s own words: “Welcome to my house! Enter freely. Go safely, and leave something of the happiness you bring!”

While this might seem like an opportunity to abandon all decorum and act a little wild – it is Halloween after all – there are still a few house rules to abide by.

Garlic or garlic-scented items are forbidden, as is silver jewellery and making any “cross” signs during the stay.

The guests must also “close all curtains before sunrise” and avoid taking mirror selfies because “the count is not a fan.”
