Kenco HALVES coffee in popular sachets – and triples the sugar content
Kenco says that the smaller packets have 'stronger' coffee or a 'higher quality'
COFFEE giant Kenco has halved the coffee in its pricey sachets - and tripled the sugar.
The coffee content in Kenco’s 2in1 smooth white coffee sachets, which cost £2.19 for ten, has decreased from 19g to 9.9g per 100g.
Meanwhile, the sugar has increased from 12.5g to a massive 33.5g per 100g – an additional 168 per cent.
While the nutritional information is given on the packet, fans of the coffee may not be aware of the new recipe, which changed in July this year, as Kenco has not made the change clear on its packaging.
Richard Headland, editor Which? magazine, said: "Shoppers are now much more aware of the health risks of hidden sugars in food and drink, which makes Kenco's decision to nearly triple the sugar content hard to justify.

"When manufacturers roll out lower-sugar versions of a product, they're quick to advertise the fact.
In this case, though, Kenco drastically increased the sugar but failed to flag this clearly to regular drinkers."
Consumers mix the drinks with hot water and don’t need to add milk.
Kenco said that the drink had been reformulated to use a coffee which was ‘stronger’ and of a ‘higher quality’ and therefore its amount had been reduced to reach the ‘desired flavour profile’.
It also said the calories, fat and saturated fat had been cut.
