Mum warns parents on Facebook after her keyless Ford car locked her 13-week-old baby in – and she had to call the fire brigade to get her out

The car door was shut for "five seconds" before the car locked and wouldn't open

A FURIOUS mum has taken to Facebook to warn that her 13-week-old baby became locked in her car for over half-an-hour, blaming a fault with her Ford Kuga key-less entry system.

Jade O'Connor from Eastbourne wanted to spread the word to stop it happening to others, saying Ford "will not accept liability as they haven't had any reports of this happening before".

Jade put her baby in the car, then went to the other side to put her three-year-old son in - and within that five second time-frame the door locked with the keys inside.

Rather than frantically smashing the window and potentially hurting the baby and toddler, the mother called the fire brigade.

"Traumatic doesn't even begin to cover it," she added.

Jade pointed out that she did not call the emergency 999 number, but the non-emergency one instead.

Facebook users had different reactions to the mother's story.

One mum said: "I can imagine what she was going through.

"My husband left keys on the car seat whilst he was getting shopping unloaded onto the pavement and my 10 year old was in the car.

"He shut the boot and it automatically locked itself, so my little boy was stuck in the car on one of the hottest days of the year.

"Luckily my brother managed to break into the car."

Another Facebook user said: "My auntie did this.

"She now has her car keys around her neck when ever she uses the car. It was her fault but an accident."

Others were less sympathetic, saying that it was her fault that she left the keys inside the car and she should have just smashed the window herself rather than call the fire brigade.
