Cheap DIY Halloween decorations: How to make your a spiderweb out of bin bags
Halloween doesn't have to be expensive. We show you how to turn a bin bag into a spider web and you'll probably already have the materials at home to make it.
THROWING a Halloween bash on a budget can be daunting but these spooky spider webs are sure to make an impact.
Even the youngest of kids can get involved in this simple seasonal craft and you can let them have fun creating their own spider web shapes and designs.
Bin bag spider webs
These webs are easy to make but look expensive. Because of the static from the bin bags, you can often hang them without any fixings but use Blu Tack if you would prefer.
You will need:
- Black bin bags
- Scissors
- Blu Tack (optional, to hang)

Bin bags = 6p (£1.99 for a pack of 30 from B&M)
Method
Step 1
Unfold a black bin bag flat onto an even surface and then fold in half top to bottom, and then in half side to side to create a square or rectangle (depending on the shape of your bags) one quarter of the original size.
Step 2
Next fold the bottom right corner up towards the top left corner to create a triangle and repeat once more to form a slimmer triangle.
Step 3
Cut a semi circle out of the top of the wide end of the triangle, with the inward dent going towards the point of the triangle. This will form the outside edge of your spider’s web.
Step 4
Continuing down the triangle cut out around eight more semi circles, stopping around half a centimeters from the far edge, where your fold is. Then cut in between pairs of the lines you’ve created to remove a piece of plastic roughly one centimeter wide, do this four times to create four gaps in the web. You can cut these as fat or as wide as you like, the smaller you cut and the more spaces you create the more fragile your web will be - but the lacier it will look.
Step 5
Hang your spider webs from walls, doors or windows, with Blu Tack if necessary. You could also add some plastic spiders to finish them off.
There are loads of ways to save money this Halloween and making your own decorations is the funnest and easiest way.
