Geordie Shore’s Gaz Beadle talks moving on from Charlotte Crosby and being loved up with Emma McVey
The reality TV star opens up about dating and how he deals with online trolls
THINGS get spooky with the Geordie Shore star, 28, as we chat Charlotte Crosby, dating and online trolls...
It’s creepy here, isn’t it? What are you scared of, Gaz?
Everything! I’m a proper wimp. I leave a light on every night because I’m scared of the dark. When I stay in hotels, I keep the bathroom light on with the door open. Also bugs and rats – I hate them.
Speaking of (love) rats, you cheated on your ex-girlfriend Charlotte Crosby earlier this year – are you on speaking terms with each other?
We don’t speak any more. Not in a bad way, it’s just better for us both. We needed one of us to leave Geordie Shore before we could move on properly. The problem was we’d get together, break up and meet someone else, but then three months later we’d be back in the house filming together. When you’re always around your ex, you can't move on. Now Charlotte can get on with her life and I can do my thing. I wish her all the best.
Charlotte left the show in June this year – do you miss filming with her?
Yes, of course. She’ll always be missed, as she was a massive part of Geordie Shore. Whenever I was upset after an argument with someone, I’d go and see her. When we were filming, there would be moments when I’d know exactly what Charlotte would say in a certain situation. Plus, I loved having a dance with her on nights out.
You’re dating someone new now, aren’t you?
I am. She’s called Emma McVey and she’s a model. We’ve been together a few months. It’s going really well – we go out on lots of dates and she’s been staying at mine.
Where’s your favourite place to go on a first date?
I love fun stuff, such as quad biking or skydiving. My worst nightmare is going for a meal. I’d rather go to McDonald’s than sit down at a posh restaurant and talk about past relationships. That’s so boring!
Do you find it hard to hold down a serious relationship when you’re in the public eye?
Definitely. Having people watch your every move is difficult. You have to be prepared for people to have an opinion on everything from your hair to your clothes. That’s the hardest part, and I think a lot of the girls I date aren’t ready for that. For example, Emma will put up a picture of us on Instagram, then suddenly people will be commenting: “We love Charlotte” or “It’s so mean you’re doing this to Charlotte.” It’s frustrating.
How do you deal with all the bad comments?
People call me a p***k or a d**k all the time on social media and it doesn’t bother us in the slightest. I really don’t care about that sort of thing.

You’ve been on Geordie Shore since it started in 2011 – do you think you’ll ever leave?
I think I’ve got about a year left in me. It’s scary because people like Chloe Ferry came on to the show last year and she was like: “I watched you on TV while I was doing my GCSEs.” That really shocked me. I’m getting so old!
Vicky Pattison has been successful since leaving the show. Would you like to go into TV presenting, too?
No, that’s not really my scene. I’m business-minded, so I’d rather buy a house, renovate it and sell it for more money than have a job where I have to turn up every day. Getting papped going to events and clubs in London isn’t really my thing, either.
