Aldi is launching a £8.99 Christmas advent calendar which is £56 cheaper than Harrods’ version… but you’ll have to be quick to bag one
Each of the calendars is wooden and has twinkling LED lights

WE all know you can get a bargain at Aldi, but now the supermarket is taking on the big boys of luxury.
On Thursday November 3 the company is launching its LED Christmas Advent Calendar, which is a snip at £8.99.
That's even more impressive when you compare it to the version at upmarket department store Harrods, which costs as whopping £64.95.
is a colossal - translating to 90 per cent.
It's also cheaper than one you can pick up from , which costs £45 - or £36.01 more.
All this is well and good, but how to the offerings stack up against each other?
Well, each of them are made from wood and they all have festive LED lights twinkling on them too.
All three are a similar kind of colour, plus they have winter scenes adorning the top of them. You know the drill - it's some pretty houses which are dusted in snow, with some twinkling fur trees next to them.
They all have small drawers numbered one to 24, which you pull out to reveal a little present.
These calendars are slightly different to traditional ones, as they're reusable.
So rather than coming stuffed with chocolate coins or other treats, you're supposed to pop gifts in the drawers yourself. If you're careful, the wooden calendar should last you through a fair few festive seasons.
