Joe Wicks’ 5 snacks you can indulge in and still stay lean

Joe says that having a healthy snack with you can be a great tool to keep on track - but you should never snack when not hungry

JOE Wicks is a firm believer in never going hungry, so alongside his delicious meals, followers of his plan can snack twice a day to keep the body fuelled.

He says: "Never snack if you’re not hungry, but if you are struggling to get through until dinner there is nothing wrong with eating something small, especially if it’s a workout day.

“A big tip of mine is to always have a healthy snack with you, to stop you heading to the vending machine – that will never end well.”

Here Joe shares some of his favourites.

Beautiful berries

Joe says: “Berries are a great way to satisfy a sweet tooth.

“My favourite are raspberries – full of vitamins and a handful or two is enough to tide you over until your next meal.”

Nuts about nuts

Joe says: "My favourite healthy snacks are nuts. I always snack on fatty things to avoid sugar, so nuts are ideal.

“Sometimes I make my own nut butters, or you can have a handful of your favourite ones to keep hunger at bay.”

Avocado

Joe says: “This is another great source of healthy fats. If I need a big snack to get me through, baked egg in half an avocado is the ultimate.

“Cut an avocado in half, hollow out the centre, crack in an egg and top with salt and pepper and a big of chilli if you’re feeling extra cheeky.

“Pop in the oven until the egg is cooked through.”

Veg and dip

Joe says: “Veg is a great snack, but to make it less boring, dip it in something delicious.

“Hummus is perfect. My new book has a great recipe for roasted cauliflower hummus – give it a try.”

Water

Joe says: “People underestimate the power of hydration. I recommend drinking two to four litres per day. It will work wonders for your metabolism, skin, and body as a whole.

"Water helps burn fat too. It also helps prevent injury as water helps keep joints lubricated.”

Joe also has some tips for getting through party season without piling on the pounds and for sticking to your fitness plan.
