Waitrose joins the battle of the Christmas 2016 adverts and people think it beats John Lewis AND Marks & Spencer
MOVE over Buster the Boxer and make way Mrs Claus because there's a new Christmas advert in town.
It comes from Waitrose, and it tells the story of a plucky robin which travels across mountains and seas, and suffers a near-death experience, in a desperate attempt to get home for the festive period.
The clip is called Coming Home, and it comes hot on the heels of the offerings from John Lewis and Marks & Spencer.
The John Lewis offering stars bouncy Boxer dog Buster, who loves jumping on the trampoline bought for six-year-old Bridget.
Marks & Spencer introduced us to the real person behind Christmas - Santa's wife Mrs Claus.
Both were heart-warming and fun, but it's the Waitrose version which is the real tear-jerker.
And it seems that is what the UK public are after for Christmas 2016, as the 90-second advert has received a rave response online.
John Lewis went for Buster the bouncing dog in its offering
First of all people were saying the Marks & Spencer offering was better than John Lewis', but now it looks like Waitrose has trumped them both.
User Mr James called it the "top Christmas ad of 2016", and he wasn't the only one to make such a bold remark.
"The latest Christmas ad from Waitrose will probably make you cry," Sarah wrote.
"Aww really sweet. Better than the JL one I think."
Will added: "Hands down the best Christmas advert so far from Waitrose.
"Beats John Lewis and Marks & Spencer."
"New Waitrose Christmas ad is the best one so far!" enthused user Lina, who added a picture of a person with love hearts for eyes to show how much she meant it.
Keeping things succinct, Vicki wrote: "Waitrose Christmas advert is the best."
One person who might not agree with that is Buzz the Boxer, who can't get enough of watching the John Lewis ad.
