Sky Mobile reveals prices for sim-only deals and existing TV customers get free calls and texts
Prices start from £10 a month and existing Sky TV customers get free calls and text messages
SKY MOBILE has unveiled the prices for its new phone network and existing TV customers get the best deal.
It launching a launching a range of 12-month Sim-only contract deals, with prices starting from £10 per month for 1GB of data, £15 for 3GB and up to a maximum of £20 a month for 5GB.
Existing Sky customers get free unlimited calls and text messages, whereas non-Sky customers will have to pay an £10 a month.
Customers will be able to roll on any unused data allowances into a piggy bank, which can be tapped into if they exceed their limit in the future.
Although, these will only be saved for a maximum of three years.
Sky TV customers can also sync recorded TV shows from their box at home to their mobiles.
Experts have compared the offering to virtual network, giffgaff.

Ewan Taylor-Gibson, telecoms expert at uSwitch.com, said: “Sky’s SIM-only set up is distinctly comparable to giffgaff’s. Both piggyback off O2’s network and both allow customers to dial their plans up or down depending on their usage. Mobile users love that kind of flexibility - it shouldn’t be underestimated as a perk.
“However, it is only competitive as long as you’re a Sky customer."
"The key differences between the two are that Sky ties you in for 12 months, while giffgaff users can cancel anytime, and giffgaff also offers unlimited everything for £20 a month, beating Sky’s top package which delivers 5GB.
"But the fact that Sky is letting people roll over data and store it for three years is both unique and compelling."
Over the next few days the telecoms firm will begin contacting the 50,000 people who have pre-registered an interest in Sky Mobile.

“We’ve designed it based on what people told us they want – it’s easy, flexible and transparent and it puts the customer in control.
“With £2 billion being wasted each year on unused data in the UK, Sky Mobile customers will only pay for what they use.”
